the doe deciding

the doe deciding
whether to cross the roadway
thinks better of it

ailing white sun

the ailing white sun
imprisoned by winter clouds
drained of its vigor

the wound

the sharp white steeple
piercing a dark cloud above
snow pours from the wound

only apathy

this dull rain evokes
no sadness in me today
only apathy

the old black woman

the old black woman
fist aimed at the old black sky
rebuking the storm

cotton candy

tufts, puffs of pink clouds
caught up in the tree branches
like cotton candy

rural rainbow

horses huddled close
in fading pastel blankets
a rural rainbow

goslings

the yellow goslings
walking on the frozen pond
look somewhat confused

cattle at pasture

cattle at pasture
dotting the winter valley
grazing on the frost

petite crescent moon

petite crescent moon
a pixie in the branches
playing coy with me

the farmer’s driveway

a rooster swaggers across
daring the old truck

looking back through time

past streetlights and powerlines
toward snow-crested hills
